Getting Dyrt-y Feels Good

The Dyrt, the fastest-growing campground review platform, has been doing just that in the past year: growing. With more than 60 million campers in the U.S. alone, The Dyrt has become a key resource for these campers to avoid the frustrations that come with finding camping online by focusing on creating the best community for campers.

With The Dyrt, people can do more than just find campgrounds easily; they can remember their own camping experiences, share their experiences with others, and make new memories.

Campground websites often lack user-generated reviews, photos and videos needed to offer a ground-level view of campgrounds. In other words, they lack a useful search experience. The Dyrt is solving that problem by building a large and engaged community of outdoor enthusiasts, and in turn the most effective online resource for camping.

“When you’re searching for an Airbnb to stay at, you want to see what it looks like, you want to see the reviews,” Kevin Long, CEO of The Dyrt said in an interview. “Campgrounds are no different.”

The Dyrt has crowdsourced over a quarter of a million user-submitted campground reviews, more than any other website or app. More people are now creating accounts on The Dyrt per month than the entirety of the previous year. In 2018, The Dyrt has seen a 5x growth in community size, with almost a million community members as of this writing. But that community growth wasn’t The Dyrt’s only achievement in 2018.

In the last eight months, The Dyrt saw a 4x growth of review assets, which are the proprietary reviews and data points that provide campers with helpful knowledge of campgrounds they can’t find anywhere else. In addition, traffic growth to The Dyrt’s site has increased 12x in 2018, helping pass the milestone, first million-visitor months this past summer. These achievements in 2018 have all contributed to The Dyrt’s status as the best camping technology with the most user-generated pictures, videos and reviews in the market.

The Dyrt recently completed a round of funding, in which Varkain followed on and doubled down.  Varkain appreciates the hard work done by the team at The Dyrt and supports their efforts in every way we can. The growth metrics achieved by The Dyrt in a relatively short period of time is proof that their model works and is beneficial to the campers as well as The Dyrt. A company that can create an environment beneficial to all parties involved, is a company Varkain is eager to support.

Looking at 2019, The Dyrt is expecting a significant revenue increase as the campground review platform launches the ability to book campgrounds across the country.

“The Dyrt is not just a directory,” Long noted, “it’s a community. Which is an extremely unique asset as we move into bookings in 2019 and are evaluated by potential acquirers.”
